1/2 MARATHON +2K FOR MIRACLE BABIES

Story

William and Tom were born "late" for twins, but were unable to avoid admittance to the Special Care Nursery in Royal Darwin Hospital, being born in poor condition after a complicated birth. During their stay we watched other parents visiting and caring for their newborns who were in much worse condition than our boys. Many were preparing for months of daily hospital visits, sitting beside their baby attached to monitors and tubes making them difficult to even be held. Everyday we thank excellent medical care for allowing us to take both boys home safely.

In May I will be taking part in Australia's most stunning 1/2 Marathon - The Great Ocean Road Marathon. I have decided to use this opportunity to raise as much money as possible for the Miracle Babies Foundation so that they can assist babies and parents who are not as fortunate as us.

Along with donations from friends and family, I am seeking 100 businesses to each donate $100, this would raise $10 000, enough to fund one Nurture Group, a playgroup for premature or ill newborns, for one year. If we can raise the amazing amount of $10 000, I will run the whole 23km carrying two swaddled infant dolls, complete with dummy and rattle. If your business is willing to be one of of the 100, please hit the donate button on the right hand side :-)

Every dollar (whether it be 1 or more) will help singleton and multiple babies born prematurely to make it home safely, so please consider making a donation.

William and Tom thank you for your support.  smiley

Miracle Babies Foundation

Miracle Babies Foundation is Australia's leading organisation that supports premature and sick newborns, their families and the hospitals that care for them. Every year in Australia, over 48,000 newborn babies require the help of a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN). 27,000 of these babies are born premature and up to 1000 babies lose their fight for life.
Initiated in 2005 by Melinda Cruz and with the help of Liverpool Hospitals Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Miracle Babies Foundation was formed by a group of mothers of premature and sick newborns. All bonded together by their NICU experiences, they shared the same common desire of wanting to support other families of miracle babies and give back to the wonderful hospitals that care for them.
Miracle Babies foundation supports newborns, families and the hospitals that care for them through information, raising funding for resources and equipment for the hospitals and through the highly successful NutureProgram, Australia's only comprehensive support program:
NurtureLine: A 24 hour Family Support Line. ph:
1300 622 243
NurtureTime: In-hospital peer-to-peer support
NurtureProgram: Support groups out of hospital, after discharge.
